The best croissant of my life

Oh yes, the best croissant that I ever ate, me, big eater, comes from here, in Santa Barbara.  I would have not believed it either, if someone had told me this three months ago.  But hey, it's true ...

Thanks to Renaud Gonthier, very talented pâtissier who opened his shop here in 2007.  Our American friends love the "almond croissant", not really surprising, but much too sugary and heavy for me.

But the real one, the simple one, the excellent traditional croissant, is just breathtaking ...!

Acutally it's just perfect.  The pastry is light and perfectly puffy, not to greasy, nor to dry, not really sweet, just the right level of crusty ... very beautiful and just AMAZING.

Ok, I am missing better words, so here are the pictures of my "petit déjeuner" of today, just taken 15 mintues ago, so "hot of the plate" :

Enjoy your Saturday, big kiss !

  1. That is surprising! By the way, I am one of the Americans who would love the almond croissant :-). Used to get one that was excellent, in, of all places, Detroit- by a specialty baker.
