The best croissant of my life

Oh yes, the best croissant that I ever ate, me, big eater, comes from here, in Santa Barbara.  I would have not believed it either, if someone had told me this three months ago.  But hey, it's true ...

My new "magic cream"

A few days ago, I found an extraordinary cream in a shop (www.shopkitson.com) in Santa Barbara: Goé Oil.  As the sample said "try me", I used it on my hands and went back home to see whether the initial wonderful feel would last.

How am I today?

What a strange title for my blog post, but you are numerous to ask me regularly how everything is going and how I am adapting. Be assured, all is well.  That does not mean that everything is perfect every day.  A relocation is a big step in life and the emotions during this experience are more like a roller coaster than a quiet river.

Only in America ...

Some pictures of our shopping tour this afternoon :

American consumers like it tidy, straws go in these boxes ...

Back to normal

My friends, it's "rentrée" time. This French word means "back to school", but also so much more. The "end of the summer", also linked to "back to work" (after much longer summer vacations than our American friends).  For us the "normal" life will start here in Santa Barbara.

I am sorry for not having written much over the summer. We arrived in California seven weeks ago, and getting everyone settled, unpack the container and being constantly surprised and astonished kept me so busy that writing was far off.

New mobile phones

One of the big joys of being parent these days is to ensure that the next generation is constantly online.  Those of you who are bringing up teenagers know what I am talking about. I therefore tried to be as proactif as possible and already looked four weeks before we left France into the acquisition of new SIM cards for my kids.

(translation: my son does not smoke, nor drinks,
nor takes drugs .. he is on the phone)

Big mistake, but please bear with me, it was all meant to be the right strategy ...

And funnily enough, reality catches up (as ever so often). Xavier Niel (Free) is trying to purchase T-Mobile, the forth operator of mobile phones in the US.

Our trip from Nice to Santa Barbara

The last days before leaving were very busy, as we had to prepare our Mougins home for the future rentals, make sure all was in good working state, give all instructions and keys to our person of confidence, sort our things, pack the eight suitcases that were going to be registered, prepare the bags that we would take in the cabin with us (thinking of the new security measures that had been put in place a few days ago, where all electronic appliances have to be charged, so that they can be turned on) and respect the emotions of all of us.

New Life - New Blog

Even if we don't always realize, we have started a new life.  We arrived eight days ago in Santa Barbara, California.  As expats, but we know that it's for good.

We have described our E-2 Visa project in our previous blog Countdown2SantaBarbara.  A lot of you followed our adventure and shared our joy and worries.  This first blog was also designed to help those who wish to create a company in the US, which will allow them to live some years or all of their life in the States.  All articles concerning the E-2 visa are regrouped here.  We hope to help you and reiterate our offer to contact us with any questions or worries.

Today, the new adventure has become reality.  This second blog won't be limited in time anymore, there are no more days to count. Most probably it will be more personnal as well, hopefully more regular, all depends on the time that is left every day. This life change brings its lot of good resolutions: do more sports, eat more healthy, work more intelligently, have the right priorities in life ...  Let's say what we can make happen ;-).

In any case, welcome to our new adventure, we are delighted you are following us !  Don't foret to subscirbe to email alerts (by putting your email in the right hand column) and to follow us on Twitter and Facebook, we love having you with us !
